Our Board of Directors

As a result of a tragedy in 2000, God made Bambie aware that she lived in the middle of a large population of seasonal farm workers! Along with that knowledge came compassion as well as the burden to share the Gospel with them. (See "Our Story"). So in 2002, Mark and Bambie Getz opened their home to host Sophia, enlisting her help in actively establishing friendships with the migrant families in the farms. The Getz family and their children were heavily involved in those beginning years and assisted with 5 Day Clubs in the farms, taking the migrant children to Sunday School and VBS, and helping to strategize the first building where Camp activities would take place on their property. The first 2 years of Day Camp (2007-2008), Bambie cooked from her tiny kitchen with just one stove! In 2009, the Getz family moved to OK, but their love for the Hispanic children and their families left a sweet legacy. Eventually Mark and Bambie donated their property to the fledgling non-profit, which continues to be the current location of Day Camp. They have 7 children... and 2 grandchildren so far!

  • More and more the need for a tech savvy guru became apparent. God met that need when Matt married a young woman, Sarah, who has served at Camp since she was a teenager. Matt, hearing about MMM and having a heart for missions, eagerly began serving with his wife at Camp. In 2019 he was asked to join the Board of Directors. His analytical mind, fresh ideas, and skills as a computer programmer have helped the ministry in this age of technology. Matt and Sarah serve extensively in their local church. They have a young son, and are rejoicing in the gift of another child on the way! They live in St. Joseph, MI.

  • This beautiful and dedicated couple have been serving with MMM from the very beginning of the outreach years before it had a name! Their love for the Hispanic people, fluency in the Spanish language as well as an understanding of the Mexican migrant culture are enormous blessings. Omar and Mary live in Hartford, MI and have 6 precious children. Their favorite thing to do is spend time with their family. During the month of Camp they sacrificially give of their time, resources, and advice. For the majority of the years since Camp started, Mary has been the main cook, and Omar has shared the Gospel in Spanish on Parent Night.

  • Jack was one of the people God used to help MMM become an official non-profit organization in 2015. His expertise in accounting has been an invaluable resource and he currently serves as Treasurer. His meticulous record keeping can come under the toughest of scrutiny and pass with flying colors! One of his burdens for the ministry is the challenge of fundraising and he is constantly looking for ways to help meet the financial needs of MMM . He and his sweet wife, Helen, reside in Muskegon, MI. They have been blessed with 1 grown daughter, 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

  • Sam and Betty are Sophia's parents and are her biggest cheerleaders through their fervent prayers, sacrificial giving, wisdom, mountains of encouragement and Biblical counsel. After pastoring in a small, mountain community in KY for 42 years, Sam and Betty retired in 2019 and moved to Oklahoma. Their most treasured moments are when they get to spend time with their 6 children, 21 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Though retired, Sam and Betty continue to serve the Lord in their new community and church family. Both battle major health issues but their home is filled with laughter and prayer. On most nights music can be heard wafting from the home as Sam plays the trombone and Betty accompanies him on the piano.

  • When Pastor Jerry first heard about MMM in 2012 he came to serve at a week of Camp and never looked back! He is one of our most dedicated recruiters for volunteers and all things necessary for the operation of Day Camp. He has a deep love for the seasonal workers' children and a great concern for the eternal destination of their souls. He and his dear wife, Judy, live in Muskegon, MI and faithfully serve the congregation at Family Bible Church. They have 5 children, and delight in their 18 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

  • In 2002, after recognizing that God had placed a call on her life to minister to migrant worker families in Southwest, MI, Sophia begrudgingly gave up her lifelong goal of foreign missions, left KY, and joined her sister, Bambie in a new endeavor. By God's grace, Sophia was soon able to not just accept God's call, but to fully embrace it and thrive in it. Over the years, her tender heart and genuine love for the migrant families has endeared her to hundreds of children and their parents, which God has providentially used to pave the way in sharing the Gospel. After prolonged singleness, God graciously brought Chris into Sophia's life and the couple were married in 2018. Chris is uniquely created to minister alongside Sophia as his 11 years of mission work in Mexico provide valuable insight. His fluency in Spanish is just the cherry on top!
